Today it doesn’t have to be explained why one has to be good at Spoken English. There are many digital properties such as mobile apps and websites that can help you learn more new words, grammar, and sentence structure. It depends on your interest in how you can utilize these resources to achieve your purpose. Therefore it is certainly essential to work in the areas where you have to improve your skills in spoken English so that you can always express yourself in English everywhere and in front of anyone. There are many methods that we can help improve your spoken English. Here in this article, we are describing the same.

Method 1 – Always make a habit of Listening to Native Speakers of English

Listening is a wonderful practice and therefore it is important for the English learner to become a good listener and top of that, he can make the best use of these skills by listening to native speakers. Native speakers can be incredibly helpful to you in learning English and increasing your skills in spoken English. Learning English through a native speaker can be advantageous in two ways. First, you get to learn words that they use in their daily life. You understand the way they communicate and use those words for expressing their emotions and feelings. Native speakers don’t use fancy words, but they use words that are generally used in the basic conversations that they have in daily life.

The second advantage of listening to a native speaker is the understanding of the accent. You not only can understand what is being communicated but will also understand how to say it while having a conversation with them. Your selection of words will help you get more connected with the local people of the country where you go.  You may not be able to avail these advantages with non-native speakers.

As far as listening is concerned, it is not necessarily limited to listening to native speakers, but also includes listening to native music, watching English movies, and listening to the news. This can also help understand native English and words that you may not have known earlier.

Method 2 – don’t wait. Just say it

When you learn something new, will you wait for the right time or moment when you can possibly use that word? Of course not. This can’t be the right approach. You must make a habit to speak and speak a lot so that you can strengthen your command over those new words that you are learning on a daily basis. As soon as you learn a new word, try to use that word in your conversation and speak it multiple times so that your tongue gets familiar with it and you can appropriately use it when the time comes. However, you will not be successful if you don’t practice after you have learned it.

I have seen many learners learning new words but still, they can’t use the words when time comes. So you need to understand that the reason behind not being able to speak properly is the lack of practice of those new words that you are learning every day.

Another reason is the fear of being misunderstood or laughing stock in front of others if they are caught speaking anything wrongly.

If there is no one near you to listen to you or talk to you then no worries. Find the mirror and start talking to yourself. Make a habit to ask questions from yourself and ensure that you are legitimately answering them with honesty and flawlessly.

Examine yourself by analyzing your rate of speech, and rate of responding to the question that you were asked, and then gauge the level of fluency in your spoken English. This kind of experience you may never get in an English learning institute nearby

Method 3 – have a debate!

English learner needs to learn that they ask if they are stuck and then clarify their doubts. But there is one more thing that you can possibly do in order to increase your spoken English skills and that is having debates or long conversations with your friends or colleagues.

If you are a knowledgeable person but can not communicate in English flawlessly then try to weaponize your knowledge and share your thoughts with others more confidently in English. It may not be so easy for you to do that, but if try then and keep having a conversation with others like debate, it is quite possible that you may remove your hesitation and be able to express yourself more confidently.

Choose the topic that you are able to speak on confidently and go on.

Method 4 – Think in English

If you want to be able to speak confidently and fluently in English, you must abstain from converting the stuff from your native language into English. It makes no sense to always be entangled in translation things as this will always be a problem to think in the native language and then translate it into English and then speak. Do you think you will ever be able to achieve fluency if you are going to learn it this way? I don’t think so. Hence, you have to make a habit to think in English and never have to translate everything. It will then be quick to respond and the listener will be happy to engage with you in the conversation.

Method 5 – Build your network

You might find some people that are better than you in English. It is imperative that you always get in touch with them and have them engaged with you in any type of conversation. This is something that makes a huge difference. You always need to expand your vocabulary, learn a new way of expressing yourself and utilize this by interacting with others.
